Trekking at times involves
climbing on abrupt pathways or jumping via streams and waterfalls. Trekking is
not uncomplicated and trouble-free, it necessitates a lot of effort and you
need to be careful to avoid any untoward incidents.
Here is a list of things that a
first-time trekker should know about and have with them if they want a secured
and contented experience.
- Pack Lightly
This is the number 1
priority when going for a trek for the first time. Do not overload
your bag with needless items. Pack only the necessities such as medicines, food,
clothes, etc. If it is going to be a steep climb, you do not want your heavy
bag pulling you down throughout the whole trek.
- Carry several pairs of cotton socks
One of the most common things
that a fresh trekker is not aware of is the chances of their socks getting wet
when they cross water streams on the way. It is vital to keep the feet warm at
all times so avoid wearing wet socks and keep adequate number of cotton socks
with you while trekking.
- Carry a few pairs of cotton pants which dry easily
Another significant thing to remember
is that you need to wear cotton clothes which will dry without difficulty so
that if you get wet accidentally, you do not have to worry about staying wet
for a long time.
- Wear trekking shoes that are water-resistant
One of the most significant
things is to purchase a pair of water-resistant trekking shoes if you do not
want to slip during the trek or have your feet damp. Good trekking
shoes will assist you in maintaining a correct grip while climbing the
mountains and would guard your feet from getting wet when you cross river
streams and waterfalls.
- Pack your bag with small drinking bottles and eatables
Always ensure that you have adequate
energy food items in your bag. Get rid of all the useless food items and only
take food items which will keep you filled for a longer period of time. There
are several places where you may not get food while trekking so packing your
own food would be better. Also, keep a water bottle with you always which you
can replenish from villages or waterfalls on the way.
- Wear Clothes that are comfortable while trekking
Make sure that you wear
comfortable clothes. This will permit free movement of your limbs and would not
restrict your body from jumping or climbing. This is very important as wrong
clothing could result in increased chances of accidents.
- Take adequate sweaters and jackets to stay warm
As you climb up, it tends to get
colder. Make sure you have suitable warm clothes to guard yourself from the
cold. Make no mistake; it reaches minus temperature in numerous places. So, if
you do not have adequate warm clothes, you would not be able to sleep at the
night because of the freezing cold.
